ChessCubs is an invite-only chess coaching platform. Accounts are created by an administrator or coach, not through public sign-up — this policy explains what information the platform holds about you once you have an account, and how it's used.
It covers two different things, and they are not treated the same way. The app at app.chesscubs.com is where children learn, and nothing in it is used for advertising. The marketing site at chesscubs.com is a public shop window aimed at parents, and it does carry advertising measurement. Each section below says which one it is about.
Solely to run the coaching platform itself: showing you your own games and homework, letting your coach or admin manage lessons and assignments, generating progress reports, and improving the coaching experience. We do not sell your data, and nothing you or your child does inside the app is used for advertising or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. There is no advertising tracker of any kind on app.chesscubs.com, and there will not be one.
Our public marketing site is separate from the app, and it is written for parents deciding whether to book a class. It uses the Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram) so we can tell which adverts actually bring families to us, and so we can show our adverts again to adults who have visited. Doing that involves Meta setting cookies and receiving the pages you viewed on chesscubs.com, along with your IP address and browser. If you submit the booking form, Meta may also receive a hashed(one-way scrambled) version of the contact details you typed for yourself — never your child's name or age — so we can measure which adverts led to real bookings. Under some US state privacy laws this counts as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising, so we name it plainly rather than burying it.
We also advertise inside ChatGPT. OpenAI's tracking script is not installed on our site — it reads names typed into web forms and cannot be told not to, and our booking form asks for a child's first name. Instead, if you reach us from a ChatGPT advert, our own code notes the click reference OpenAI adds to the link, and when you submit the booking form our server tells OpenAI a booking happened, with that click reference and a hashed version of the contact details you typed for yourself — again, never your child's name or age. That is the whole of what OpenAI receives from us.

To switch it off, use your browser's tracking protection or its “Do Not Track” setting, or your ad preferences inside Facebook or Instagram. Blocking it costs you nothing on our site — every page works the same either way.
Access is role-based. Students see their own games, homework, and progress. Coaches see students assigned to them. Parents see their own linked children. Admins manage the overall platform. These boundaries are enforced at the database level (Row Level Security), not just in the app's interface.
Data is stored with Supabase (hosted on infrastructure in the cloud) and the app itself is hosted on Vercel. Both are reputable infrastructure providers used by many production applications; neither has independent access to use your data for their own purposes.
Classes in the ChessCubs classroom are recorded in full, including every student's camera and microphone. The purpose is child safety — a coach is an adult alone online with children, and a recording is how the protection of a second adult in the room works online. It protects children and coaches alike. Reviewing how classes are taught is a secondary use. Consent is given at enrolment, and on the booking form for a trial class. Recordings are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically, are visible only to the founder, every access is logged, and they are never shown to parents, shared, published or used in advertising. Many ChessCubs students are minors. Student accounts are created and managed by a coach or administrator, with a parent or guardian linked to the account and required to review and approve it, rather than the child signing up directly. Parents can request a copy of, or the deletion of, their child's data at any time by contacting us below.
