Your Child's Privacy at ChessCubs

ChessCubs provides online chess instruction and learning tools for children. Parents and guardians control every child account. Before your child's account is activated, please review what information ChessCubs collects, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

What we collect

To provide chess instruction, ChessCubs may collect and maintain:

  • your child's parent-approved display name and age group
  • ChessCubs username and account information
  • assigned coach, batch and curriculum level
  • class schedule and attendance
  • lessons, puzzles and homework activity
  • chess games and learning progress
  • coach feedback and progress reports
  • essential account-security and technical information

ChessCubs does not require your child to provide a personal email address, phone number, home address, school name or public profile.

Why we use it

We use this information to:

  • provide and personalize chess instruction
  • assign lessons and homework
  • track learning progress
  • show progress to you and your child
  • help assigned coaches prepare and teach
  • operate, secure and improve the ChessCubs platform
  • provide customer support and protect users

Who can access it

Your child's information is available only to:

  • you and other verified guardians linked to your child
  • your child
  • assigned ChessCubs coaches
  • authorized ChessCubs staff who need access for instruction, support, safety or platform operation
  • approved service providers that process information on behalf of ChessCubs under appropriate restrictions

What we do not do

ChessCubs does not:

  • sell children's personal information
  • create public child profiles
  • allow children to search for or privately message strangers
  • display behaviorally targeted advertising in the Student area
  • use children's information for unrelated advertising
  • use class or child data to train public AI models
  • publish a child's name, image, testimonial or achievement without separate parental permission

Parent rights

You may:

  • review information associated with your child
  • request correction of inaccurate information
  • withdraw consent for future collection and use
  • request deletion of eligible child information
  • ask questions about ChessCubs' privacy practices

Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, transaction or recordkeeping purposes. ChessCubs will explain what can be deleted, de-identified or must be retained.
